Digital Rights Workshops

The Digital Rights Workshop is the capacity building workshops on Internet Governance and Digital Rights. There will be two sets of capacity building programs viz., Accessibility SIG and National SIG. This year, we are partnering with Internet society’s Accessibility Special Interest Group to conduct Accessibility SIG and National SIG in coordination with Nepal SIG.

School on Accessibility Rights in Digital Space (Accessibility SIG)

The Leadership Training on Internet Governance and Digital Rights for Persons with Disabilities will be an extension of the initiatives, initiated by Asia Pacific School on Internet Governance from June 24th to 28th 2022 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

This initiative aimed to enhance the capacities of individuals in the Asia-Pacific region to integrate persons with disabilities into their movements and programs while advocating for their right to decent work. Ten participants from different South Asian countries actively contributed to the workshop, resulting in the formation and official acceptance of the Dhaka Declaration.

The primary goal of this workshop is to empower individuals with disabilities to become leaders in advocating for digital rights and fostering an inclusive Internet governance landscape. The program will cover key topics such as accessibility, privacy and cybersecurity, opportunities in Internet Governance, Nepal’s digital ecosystem, and the role of individuals with disabilities in shaping internet governance policies.

National School on Internet Governance and Digital Rights (National SIG)

National School on Internet Governance and Digital Rights in Nepal shall be run in parallel to the Leadership Training for Persons with Disability on Internet Governance and Digital Rights (Accessibility SIG). This will be a national school on Internet Governance and Digital Rights with contemporary national as well as international issues.

The National School on Internet Governance is a multi-stakeholder initiative for the promotion of the leadership in Internet Governance and Digital Rights. This three day training program aims to enhance the capacity of various stakeholder groups in Nepal to build Internet Governance leaders by equipping trainees with knowledge and skills to participate effectively in national, regional and global Internet governance processes.

By focusing on the intersection of Internet governance and digital rights, This School on Internet Governance seeks to cultivate a new generation of leaders who can navigate and influence the evolving digital landscape.
